About

A company named for moving first.

Founded in 2026 in Pretoria, South Africa, Avantix works as a team of engineers across AI engineering, cloud architecture, and product development — brought together around what a given problem needs.

Where the name comes from

Avantix draws its name from avant-garde — French for advance guard, from avant (before) and garde (guard). Originally it was a military term: the troops who marched at the head of the army, out ahead of everyone else.

In 1825 it was borrowed for something else entirely. French reformer Henri de Saint-Simon and his circle called on artists to act as the people's avant-garde — the ones who would carry new ideas forward before the rest of society caught up. From there it came to describe anyone whose work pushes past the established way of doing things.

The team

Avantix is deliberately small. Rather than staffing a project with whoever is on the bench, we assemble a team around the work — engineers who have built the kind of system in question before, and who stay on it through delivery.

In practice that means the people scoping your project are the people building it. There's no handover between teams, and no layer of account management between you and the engineers doing the work.
